Last Saturday it was the final chance for H2 to grab a win in 2017. After a gruesome period with loss after loss it was time to fight for the points. Before, the D1 obliterated the opponent with 107-7. Standards were high for this game day.
H2’s opponent was slightly more challenging. The Peatminers acquired a new centre, extending their big-man-pool to 3. Halfway during the second quarter, the table notices that one of the players was not registered in the system and could not play as a consequence. The frequently played team from sunny Vriezeveen went head to head during the first half, which they ended with a comfortable lead. For Arriba, the engines started to rumble in the 3rd, finally. With plenty of fast breaks, the gap was closed and even converted to a comfortable lead. A presumed 3-pointer by Matteo gave the gents of H2 wings. Menno managed to land a tricky shot mid-foul for the and-1. Peatminers had the better driver. With a lead of 13 points, coach Anniek decided to give zone-defence a try. Despite the way this went, H2 switched back to man-to-man for the final minutes.
Besides the win, it was also great to play a team with outstanding sportsmanship.
With a win for the holidays in the pocket, H2 is looking forward to the next match against WSV on Saturday 13th of January.
Happy Holidays
