’21/’22 Weekly Match Roundup #1

Dear Arribans,

After a year of no competition, the games finally started again! In this weekly roundup you will find a short summary of all Arriba games of last week, as well as upcoming games for the next weekend!

Last week

Gents 3 had their first game on Friday and managed to win 61-65 against Amical after a thrilling overtime game.

On Saturday there were 2 away and 2 home games. Gents 1 unfortunately could not get the win against B.V. Arrows and lost 84-72. Perhaps the 2,5 hour ride to Dokkum was a bit tiring… 

Ladies 1 got a great win in Utrecht against the Cangeroes in what was already their second game (and second win) of the season! They beat them by 44-68 after an impressive performance by the whole team.

Now for the home games! The first one being Gents 2 who had a bit of a slow opening but started picking up the pace in the second half. After an exciting, close match and lots of ‘Dora’ chants they got the win against WSV. The final score was 57-55. 

The last game of the weekend was played by Ladies 2. They had a lightning quick start and a 10-0 lead, however after halftime they started to slow down. Their competitors had a big size advantage, which made it difficult to maintain their lead. After a lot of back and forth in the 4th quarter, the final score was 59-61 in favor of their opponents: Jolly Jumpers.

Next week

Coming Saturday is not just any Saturday…. It is SUPER-SUPER-SATURDAY! Every team except for Gents 3 will play a home game. Starting from 15:10 we have 4 matches throughout the day. Come and cheer on your fellow Arribans to victory! Super-super-Saturday also means table and referee duty so please check the schedule.
